Sideline Fairplay

We welcome all parents, relatives, and friends to join us at our games! Please remember to be a supportive role model for all players, including those on the opposing team. Evidence shows that a friendly and encouraging environment helps every player feel like a winner. Unfortunately, studies suggest that pressure from the sidelines and an overly competitive atmosphere are driving higher dropout rates in youth sports. At MYSC, we’re committed to making a positive change by ensuring our fields remain a welcoming, supportive space for all players and referees.

Parental Code of Conduct

Encourage good sportsmanship. Cheer positively for all players, not just your own child or team. Support a fun, growth-oriented environment by encouraging players to try their best and enjoy the game, regardless of the outcome.

Respect the decisions of referees, understanding that they are an important part of the game and are doing their best.

MYSC emphasizes the importance of allowing players to develop their creativity and decision-making skills on the field. Spectators and parents are reminded not to coach players from the sidelines, especially the player with the ball. Part of our player development philosophy is to encourage players to engage in one-on-one duels, take on personal challenges, and learn from their mistakes without the added pressure of outside distractions.

Remember that youth soccer is about learning, having fun, and building lifelong skills, not just winning.

MYSC is proud to encourage our youth players to take on roles as referees. Just like the players on the field, referees are part of the learning and growth process, and their involvement helps foster leadership, confidence, and responsibility. Referees always have the full support of the club, as they play an essential role in ensuring the game runs smoothly and fairly.

It is important to remember that without referees, there would be no games. Unfortunately, referee abuse has led to high dropout rates, and we are committed to reversing this trend by fostering a culture of respect. We ask all members and spectators to support referees by respecting their decisions, modeling good behavior, and reminding their children to do the same. Together, we can ensure referees feel valued and appreciated, helping to maintain the vibrant soccer community we all enjoy.

By attending MYSC events, you agree to abide by this Zero Tolerance Policy. Together, we can ensure youth soccer remains an enjoyable and rewarding experience for everyone involved.

Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to our community.
